Wow, has it been that long since I checked in with my girls?? (and gents..)

I guess so....

I have been busy with many things since we last saw one another.

I went back to work ...after 7 months at home sharing my daily thoughts with you and one bum knee..

While at home I launched a lil cake business out of my kitchen

Spoonful of Sugar

Creating cakes in the most delightful way....

That's me...

I have been a busy little bee...

And we packed up the truck and moved to Beverly....

ok next door. But moving is still moving. I hate to pack!! You never know how much stuff you have until you have to move it from one location to another.

And the proudest moment was watching my nephew graduate!!

I am so proud of the young man my nephew has turned into.

When "Pomp and Circumstance" began to play , the tears began to flow.

The same lil one that was terrified of standing on grass was now marching into his future.

As he threw up his "rock on "sign- we all held our up rock on's back.

That's right Alex- "Rock on" to whatever your hearts desire!! We are here for you and could not be prouder!!

I too am following my heart's desire..

thus the reason for my tardiness.

But I am still here..

Now that the dust has setteled you will see more of me.

I promise!! I miss my blogging divas....

hope you missed me too.

and this birthday girl was no exception.

Yesterday I made this .. three tier buttercream with fondant decorations.

The mom wanted butterflies with purple and pink decorations.

The cake will have a crown placed in front of the feathers ...a regal touch I think.

I added ribbon roses to add some whimsy to it.

The butterflies have edible pearl accents to the body to make it princess worthy.

A princess has to have some jewels!!!

I also added an edible dusting powder to the all of the roses, gumballs (made of fondant) and butterflies.

Trust me the pic does not show the bling in all it's glory.

I also thre in some matching cupcakes for a bonus...

I pray she liked it.. I enjoyed making it.

sorry about the pic..I took it on my phone.

It has been a whirlwind week..

for starters I go back to work this Wednesday..Yeah!!!

I could easily see myself being a stay at home mom but I have never not worked.

So I am excitied about going back to work.

Secondly, I have been making some more cakes.

Saturday was such a lovely day that I decided to make a cake and my own buttercream.

It was delish!!!! When I got to the decorating part...I got lazy.

Don't judge me...I was tired by that point.

But I think it still turned out purty!!!!

I pray that all is well with all of my bloggy divas.

I want to tell you thank you for being amazinf prayer partners and friends.

I could not make it this past weekend but I heard all about it and want to see pictures ladies!!!

Please continue to pray for me as I will for you.

All of you have truly been a blessing to me !!!

Sorry I haven't been around much.

I have been job hunting like crazy!!! And when I am not glued to search engines I have been working on cakes.

I have a baby shower cake due next month and thought I would try my hand at these....

tell me what do you think?

They are made from gumpaste and a template I found online.

Talk about tedious...

The baby shower colors are yellow and lavender.

These swweties will adorn the top of a double 8" cake covered in yellow fondant.

There will also be cupcakes in yellow and lavender with matching fondant flowers on them.

That same day I am decorating a princess cake for a birthday party.

I get super excited planning cakes but right as I start decorating them I get nervous.

I don't know why..maybe it is stage fright...lol.

Happy 16th Birthday to my baby girl...

(I am trying not to cry as I type this)

Happy Birthday Morgan.

Wow it only seems like yesterday that I placed you in your car seat and brought you home.

You were so tiny and very beautiful. From birth I knew that you had your own personality.

You oozed independence !! You didn't cry for anything but the basics ..diaper changes and bottles.

Even then you were fearless.

Morgan, you have grown into a lovely young woman who I know will achieve anything you set out to do.

Continue to place the Lord first and foremost in your life and you cannot fail.

I miss the little girl who use to wear curly pigtails ...I will always keep that little one in my heart.

But I am excited to see where the young lady who stands before me today will go.

Wow this cake is bright!!!

Morgan will be 16 tomorrow and really wanted a shoe cake ...

So I made the shoe ..by hand.

It says LIVE in rhinestones.

I also made the makeup, powder puff, nail polish, and ipod from fondant.

I did not make the cake though...sigh.

My oven stopped working on me. What the duece??

So, I called up Korgers and ordered a double 8 inch round at the last minute.

Thanks Jennifer for all of your help. I owe you one.

The border is a gumball border made of fondant.. pretty easy really.

Morgan loved it and I hope you do too....

She likes it.. she really likes it!!

Flowers, Ribbons, and bows ... OH MY!!!

I thought I would share some of my work so far.

(Sorry about the pics in advance. Not my best photography)

For the last 2 days I have been making fondant flowers, ribbons, and bows... OH MY ...

I know have a "crick" in my neck from pinstakingly cutting flowers and other elements for my parents wedding cake.

This is a sample cascade that will go on the cake.

Granted, if I had more time to plan.. these would be bad ass.

I decided to go with a Mary Engelbreit themed flower for a whimsy look.

I pray that my mom and dad love it.. I will take like.

They are not very over the top people ..so I decided their cake should represent them.

I also have roses and leaves, that I cut and shaped by hand ..like a nut. LOL

These are just a few, there are many more. Trust me ..many many more.

One of my roses.. I was hoping the pic would show the pearl dust that I hand sprinkled on each and every flower. But no such luck. It is really a nice touch .. let me tell ya. Sparkly... I love it.

Ok I have to run.. got to make more flowers!!!

My parents are celebrating their 59th wedding anniversary this Sunday.

My mom and dad never had a wedding or anything of the sort..so I am going to make them a wedding cake.

It will model this one but with a few changes.

I am hoping that they will like it. I am going to start on it today.

Making tons of flowers by hand so that will be time consuming!!

I am a sentimnetal person and I would like my parents to have a wedding cake.

They never posed for a wedding picture but I found a beautiful pic of them together and had it framed and all of the family wrote a message on the mat for them a few years ago. They LOVED IT!!! It hangs in their living room for all to see. I think my mom wanted to cry but she is not the crying type.

I love to see my mama smile....

maybe Sunday I can make that happen.

Some gentleman crashed his plane into the IRS offices in Austin, Tx yesterday.

What a tragic and terrible event this was..

The man in question had some tax issues..from what I understand the IRS had put a suspension on both of his businesses.

With my current IRS situation.. I can somewhat understand his aggrivation. However, this is a tad extreme.

My heart goes out ot all of those who were involved in the events on yesterday.

I pray that all the families involved find some peace and understanding through this time of difficulty.

If you are being audited ... please just fill out the paperwork.

That's me and the person shaking me ..the IRS.

I was randomly chosen to be audited this year..oooh what an honor.

If you have never had the joy nor the experience .. be thankful, VERY THANKFUL!!

I love my government and am a law abiding citizen but the IRS chaps me hide right now.

I do not know why we are having to do this but ok.. I'll do it.

The part that quizzes me the most is how much information they want.

I say want because NEED would be an overstatment.

After I filled out all of the paper work today.. I am beat.

And I still have more!!!

Do you really need to know how much the toothfairy left me for my first tooth??

Ok they did not ask that but they might as well have.. they asked EVERYTHING ELSE.

Sorry about the vent but I needed to get it off of my chest.. hope you all have a blessed week.

Workout day 1

I worked out today!!!

Why all excited you ask?

Well, I have been sitting here watching the pounds pile on for the last five months while I was on leave.

I didn't eat any more than usual but being injured made me less active than I have ever been in my life.

I have always been pretty active doing my day to day stuff - which equals walking at least 5 miles everyday.

But I have never actually had to workout a day in my life. Until now...

Being thin and in shape came naturally to me..always did.

But somewhere around 33 ye ole metabloism kicked in... or slowed down I should say.

So this morning, my knee was feeling pretty good and I walked a mile!!

Followed by 100 situps, leg throws, and calf raises.

I am going to do this twice a day from now on.

With Sunday being the exception..even God rested on the Sabbath.

Well, wish me luck..

p.s. I will publish pics of my end result.. but until then you will have to use your imagination...lol

A Cricut Cake Machine!!!!

I literally drooled the first time I saw this little baby!!!

Oh I want one...Oh I am going to get one. Now, when that day will be...I don't know right now.

I want to start my own little cake business in the near future but with times being the way they are I will wait.

Cake decorating!!!

This was my take on a sushi Birthday cake for my nephew Alex.

He turned 18 a few weeks ago...

I am soooo proud of him. Alex is the oldest son of my twin Angelique..

he LOVES all things Japanese.

Mainly sushi...

So I airbrushed the cake to look like a wooden serving board and hand molded all of the susi and

and it's extras. Yes, I made the fortune cookie... all out of fondant and rice crispie treats and candy.

The bowl is also made of fondant.. it was suppose to be a soy sauce bowl. I was SUPPOSE to put

chocolate sauce in it.. Don't ask why I didn't.

This is only a small portion of the sushi that Alex had at his party..
Sooooo delicious!!!!

I think Alex had a good time....

I wouldn't call it quite a vacation... but the rest was much needed.

The world will be celebrating today one way or another..

We had a celebration in our family too.

A few weeks ago this very chic young lady turned 87!!!

That is my Aunt Ruth.. the STRONGEST woman I have EVER met!!!

Seriously. No Joke. She is a phenomenal woman who has overcome mountains that I pray I never have to climb.

I come from a very small family...approx. 15 members.

We are pretty close nit. So we all got together and threw my aunt a surprise get together.

The entire family was there.

the gift of art. She saw something in me when I was like 10.

I use to try to sketch little things here and there and she enrolled me in oil painting.

This is my 2nd painting. It came so naturally to me. My art teacher would give me a picture and let me do my thing. As you can see from the signature, I still could not write in paint but I could paint. Go figure.

I gave this to here when I was 11. It was a birthday present for her.

This is my 100th post !!!

WOW.. that went by quickly!!!

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support as I recoup.

I can now bend my knee but I still walk funny. I kinda waddle like a duck. You can stop snickering at me now...lol.

But while I have been out I have been working on some things that really needed to be taken care of.

I will post about those later today.

But I have been watching from the wings.

Why you so obsessed with me???

This is what my poor playstation asked me today...

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I am getting better daily.

I can walk without my crutches for a short distance.

There is still quite alot of swelling but I am making progress.

Now here is what I have been doing while at home...

Not on my pc but on my poor playstation.

I always liked video games but now I am obsessed!!!

The guy at gamestop knows me and my crutches by name.

I know this isn't forever but since I am at home and bored senseless...

it is official. I am now a gammer.

Mr. H has even joined me.

He stayed up with me one night until 4.a.m.

I play when my knee hurts really bad. It distracts me. That was the worst night and he hung in there with me.

Poor thing he was yawning the entire time.

Stop laughing.....

I know I should do something more productive but it is kind of nice to be a kid in the privacy of my room.

I never really got to do that kind of stuff when I was younger.

Soo until I can fully go back to being a mom..

(I tried to clean my bathroom the other day..ouch!)

I cannot believe the unbeliveable gall and NERVE of SOME PEOPLE!!!!!

I did my post yesterday to commemorate the anniversary of our 44th President taking office.

I did not expect to EVER recieve the comment that I opened in my inbox.

I will not post such ignorance on here but to call me the "N" word and to post anomously .....

NO!! I am not going to be descreet about it, you called me a nigger! How dare you!!!!!

It is ignorance like that that keeps people like you in sheets!!!

I see that you were not brave enough to post it with your name.

Let's get a few things straight....

I am a proud African-American woman and I am a democrat.

I did not vote for Obama because of the color of his skin. I originally voted for Hillary in the primaries.

But once I listened to him ..I liked what he stands for and he received my vote.

If that were the case then why did I not vote for Colin Powell?

The purpose of the post was to show how proud I was of that day and the strides that we as a country have made to overlook such simplicities as race.

But for some, I see, they are just simple.

I do not disrespect anyone on my blog or anywhere else.

I firmly believe that we are all children of God and that under his love there is no difference.

It is that same love that has compelled me to pray for you because I truly feel pity for you.

It must be tiring to have that much ignorance weighing you down.

For my bloggy sisters who gave words of support, " thank you."

I would like to think that I can find solice in bloggy land...

The world we live in is hard enough. But to be verbally assaulted here is beyond my reason.

There is a saying that, " Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me.."

To a degree this is true. But is it not words that give the command for war? Or restore peace?

Words have a great impact on us...even me.

I am a person, just like you. If I am cut.. I bleed. And if I am slandered ..I am hurt just like you.

A change has come...

One year ago today...

Barack H. Obama was inaugurated into the office of

The President of The United States of America!!

This was one of the proudest moments of my life.

I come from a long generation of people who believe in education and hard work.

Those same people were never really afforded the same opportunities as many others because they are

African-American.

That is reality.

Growing up, we were told that you can be anything that you want to be... to a degree.

Doctor and teacher those things you can achieve...but no one ever mentioned President.

Up until last year it was just a glimmer in my community's eye.

January 20th, 2009 it became a reality.

My entire family requested off from works for weeks in advance.

We had planned a celebration!!!

Everyone, including my 79 year old mother, had on their Obama shirts.

The grill was lit.

Champagne and sparkling cider was chilled..

Quiche was served for breakfast as we planted ourselves in front of the t.v.

We hung on every word, every moment. This is a day that I will tell my grandchildren about. My girls will tell their grandchildren about it as well.

My mother said that she never thought that she would live to see this day.

But here it was!!!

I know that many of you do not care for President Obama.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I will not knock you for it.(David lol)

But for me, I am proud. Dr. Martin Luther King said that he had a dream..

I believe that the Lord gave him a vision of what was to come and

I am sooo very blessed to have been a part of it; even if it was from Conroe, Tx.

I never wanted to forget this life changing event..

so I have a tattoo to remind me ( in case I get Alzheimer's. Hey it runs in my family)

It says"Change" with the date 1/20/09 written in the stars.

That day, has forever changed what we tell our children.

We went from," Of course you can be a doctor!" to " You can be President !"

I love the way that sounds.

I also come from a family deeply rooted on God.

I have faith in my Lord and faith in our President and

I continue to pray for the leaders of this country daily.

My family will have a mini celebration today - and for many years to come.

I never want to forget that day...

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

His non violence movement changed this world forever.

I have a Dream

I once had to memorize this moving speech.

I believe I was 11 years old. When I actually sat down and read it, truly read it, my heart jumped in my chest.

I cannot imagine what segregation was ever like. I am the first in my family to never experience it. However, I have heard the tales that still linger like a rain cloud.

To not be allowed to simply eat at the same restaurant as others merely because of the color of your skin.

To be hosed and attacked by dogs because you desire the everyday luxuries that you can only hope to obtain.

To be thought of as less than a person.

There are some who would never embrace the dream.

I have, in my lifetime, experienced those people.

At 8, I witnessed the Klan drive by my house.

I will never forget having to sit very quietly as they rode by with their rants.

I will also never forget the image of my mother with her pistol in her lap as they did.

I still believe in Dr. King's Dream....

A day in my life...

Lying around all day. Granted I just knew this was going to be an at home vacation.

NOPE. Not Really.

I can sympathize with this little fella.

I have to wait for someone to feed me and to help me "Go".

This vacation is for the dogs.

I am here alone ....

Any other day of the week this would be grand.

But today, not so much.

Frustrated enough to pull my hair out and about to die of cabin fever

I made my way out of bedroom only to see my living room...

I won't even describe it. Just know that while I have been in my room, my husband and two teenage daughters have had run of the house. Enough said.

It's not that bad but it's not that good either.

I sooooo want to clean my house.

I am terrified to see my kitchen.

Mr. H has done all of the cooking since Monday.

They say Rome wasn't built in a day

but I know what can happen to a kitchen in one.

My version of clean is soooo not their version of clean.

I like stuff in it's place and everything tidy.

I'm not Florence from the Jefferson's or anything of the sort.

I'm just neat.

OH well.... let me hop my way over to the couch and wait for someone to come home and feed me.

Now I know why Kingston was sooo excited to see me when I came home.

I'm home.

What a day. The surgery went fine. The good doc repaired my torn cartilidge and some other stuff.

I might have to have another surgery. I will find out next week.

I am in PAIN!! And I am nauseous and I have a migraine from the anesthia.

But to make this day just a tad bit happier...

My baby Taylor comes home sick. She has strep throat.

Now I feel guilty. I am so use to pampering my kids when they are ill.

But as expected. I cannot move.

Thank God for Mr. H and Morgan. They are taking care of us.

I know the pic is sideways..

I do not feel like photshopping anything...sorry.

My one desire when I came home was Starbuck's oatmeal and a latte.

My wish came true. Mr. H had it in hand when he came in the door.

And my mamma...

I loooovvee my mamma!!!

I tried my best to have some..

but I was really queasy.

I'll have it today maybe.

Stay inside!!!

If it can be avoided. Sadly, I have to brave this weather and run a few errands.

Trust me, if it were not for my surgery I would never open my front door.

It's cold here today. A whole whoping 17 degrees!!!!

I hear your sniggles. That would be my friends from the north calling me a "Wussy".

But I am a southern gal. Granted, I love winter. The summer's here are just toooooooo hot and full of mosquitoes.

But this is a tad extreme.

(No this is not a pic of Conroe- I googled it.)

But this is how I feel. Every single heater in my house is on.

I am wearing my thermals, and my skull hat-indoors.

I don't like this kind of cold. But I will tell you what I do like..

hanging out with my family. We will rent movies, play a few games, eat some serious comfort food,

and just chill.....literally.

Get it? Chill? LOL

(That was a joke.. you are suppose to laugh)

So wherever you are enjoy the moment , wrap up, and stay warm. But most importantly enjoy being with your loved ones.

This is Kingston...

My grandpuppy.

Taylor begged me for a puppy.

I do mean begged. She promised to do all kinds of chores if I would allow her to have one.

I was a tad bit hesitant. But I gave in.

I planned my surprise.

Our neighbor's dog had puppies the night of Hurricane Ike.

I asked for one. She was delighted to give Taylor a new friend.

( I do believe it was an unplanned pregnancy..lol)

So the day of the adoption while she was at school I made my way next door with my puppy carrier in hand.

This was a huge litter. I thought ," Which one ? They are so many ."

Kingston answered for me. He walked right up to me and sat in front of me. Once I looked into those beautiful eyes, I knew that he was for my baby.

I brought him home, gave him a bath and waited for Taylor.

Sheer joy and screams were all I heard when she came through the door.

"This is your dog. You are responsible for him."

"Yes Mam!!!"

She has never failed.

Last night was no exception.

(Due to his serious shedding , Kingston Ike Thomas, now lives outside.

Taylor cried when we made this transition.

Kingston loved it.)

It is freezing here. Taylor made sure that her "son" was inside and warm.

He is still housebroken and remembered all of his manners that she taught him.

He has grown to be a true member of our family. He does not like strangers who might even go near his mamma. But he is the most loving dog you will ever meet. These two have a very special bond.

It amazes me the way she loves and cares for him.

When she is away visiting her dad she ALWAYS calls to check on him.

I love her for that.

And I have to admit, I love my grandpuppy Kingston.

I cannot imagine our lives without him.

I'm having surgery

Monday at 6a.m.

I am having

surgery on my left knee.

I was injured back in August at work.

I have done phyiscal therapy and all that they have asked.

This was scheduled the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.

The day before the surgery my insurance canceled it.

Bast***ds!!

Today I get a phone call

"Misty you are scheduled to have surgery Monday at 6a.m."

This will be me for a while. Wonderful!!

Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.

I pray they can fix my knee - it pops every time I make a step.

I have my playstation and crochet ready.

I will stockpile on magazines and some comfort food.

I will have my starbucks oatmeal and latte waiting on me when I get home.

Minus the beer I think this is the life when you are laid up.

I plan on healing. I am ready to get this fixed and secretly I am ready to rest.

So when you are on your way to work Monday..

Please say a prayer for me

and if you could send Twinkies..

That would be Simply Divine!!

I like to cook. Some people loooove to cook. I do it because I have to.

There are times when I really get an urge to be Betty Crocker and whip up a whole mess of food just because.

I mainly cook because of my family. It's cheaper than eating out and healthier too.

I am a southern girl through and through.

So yesterday I decided to cook up a nice comfort food meal.

Country ribs, cabbage, blackeye peas, sweet potatoes, and cornbread.

(I'll give you time to wipe the drool from your mouth.)

I am checking on my cabbage, lift the top off of the pot when it happens.

I am burned from the steam!!!

My thumb is on fire!!! It really hurts.

Usually I rub a little ice on it and it is ok.

(My mamma told me that you are not a real cook if you don't have scars.)

The ice is not working but I am about to roll on the floor in pain.

I grab a bottle of water and submerge my thumb in it- for 3 hours.

(I'm not kidding either.)

As soon as I remove my thumb it feels like hell has come to visit my hand.

I head to the internet- I tried it all.

Toothpaste, honey, you name it- nothing.

My kids are laughing hysterically.

I am about to cry.

Aloe Vera!! I have an aloe vera plant at my mom's house.

( I gave it to her because I can kill a cactus)

I grab a huge piece, slice it open and place it on my thumb.

Relief, but I can't hold it hear all night.

I think to myself.."How can I keep this in place?"

I am not running to Walgreens for this!

I think of my redneck friend Robelyn from Redneck Chic

DUCT TAPE!!!

My girls are rolling on the floor at this point.

But hey it works.

I slept like a baby. And when I awoke this morning my burn was healed.

Hallejuah!!!

I had a really really weak moment.

I had 2 puffs. As soon as I puffed - I felt sick and threw it out.

I am back on board now.

I am utterly ashamed of myself. I am going to get some gum in the morning.

Patches do NOT work for me. They make me terribly ill and I have CRAZY CRAZY dreams.

I did not know that this was going to be this hard.

I mean I have actually shed some tears over a cigarette!!!!!!!

I am glad that I have my blog..

I can vent on here.

Hard as Hell...

I went to bed really early last night.

The cravings were killing me.

Not literally, but almost.

I nearly came to tears as the desire for a cigarette consumed me.

But I did not give in!!

As I slipped into my bubble bath - I craved one.

Before I went to bed - I craved one.

When my eyes opened to a new day - I feigned one.

When did my whole life turn into smoke??

I have been told the first day is the hardest.

NOPE..NOT TRUE.

Today, day Two, is hard as hell.

And if you have ever read the bible and learned anything about hell...

Then you KNOW this is HARD!!!!!

I try to keep my self busy-

I got up and at 8a.m. blew leaves and raked!!!

I have read half a book, and dusted and vaccumed.

My tree is still up but I will have to save that for Monday.

If I do all of my projects in one day- boredom will make me fall of the wagon.

Now I am blogging.

I bet this poor guy is on day 3. I can't imagine what tomorrow is going to be like.

I am struggling here.

There are tears running down my face.

OH MY I have turned into pookie the cigarette head !!!!

Ok OK . Pull your self together Misty!!!!

(Deeeeep Sigh) I'm ok.

Just had a moment.

Thank you for letting me vent.

The Craving has passed and I am drying my face now.

Today is Day One..

I am having some serious withdrawls.

I soooooooooooooooooooooo want a cigarette.

I have not had one though.

This is really hard.Much harder than I imagined.

When I am stressed I smoke. I am stressed now because I can't.

How ironic is this ???

Well, trust that I am not going to pick one up and light it.

Although I do love the sensation of lighting a fresh cigarette and inhaling that first puff.

But I won't.

I have too much at stake here.

My health means too much me.

Loosing my life to tobacco is not an option.

I have too much to live for.

Well, one down and many more to go.

Wow 2009 was a year to remember.

It was a year of obstacles and victories.

A year of new friends and even better memories.

Who knew that in 2009 I would have a new love..

Blogging.

It keeps me sane at times.

It is my stress reliever.

I never imagined when posting my first blog that I would join a circle of devout prayer warriors like yourselves.

2010 is going to be a year of devotion and utmost praise for my Lord.

Where would I be without him?

White Wednesday

I almost forgot that today is White Wednesday.

I lieu of everything going today.. it slipped my mind.

I am in a bit of a funk.

I need to unwind ...seriously.

So in my perfect world

I would light as many candles as I could.

I love candle light. It soothes me. But too many would make me a firebug.

(mmmm Robelyn?? )

I would slip into a nice hot bubble bath, turn on my iPod, and turn into a prune.

What would be better than this beauty?

I feel the tension melting away by just looking at her picture.

Cuddle up in the warmth of a soft bed..

and wakeup to a new day.

(Honestly, if I woke up to this scenery I would be simply delighted.)

But since I still have children, the white rooms will have to wait.

But the candles are lit, the wine is poured ( just a half of a glass)

the tub is calling my name and my bed awaits.

Tomorrow is a new day ladies..

let us rejoice in it.

My New Year ...In HD!!!

So Friday is the beginning of a New Year.

The time to reflect and look forward.

I make at least one resolution each year. For 2010.. I have quite a few.

I am going to loose at least 25 lbs.

Seriously!! Since my injury in August I have gained alot!!

I don't eat any more but I am not burning any calories.

Soooo I will be on the "D" word.

Organize my house is next on the list.

I want to revamp my entire house.

Major one here..

Stop smoking.

My terrible habit. I have only been smoking for a few years but I must quit.

This will be the hardest. But I am determined to do it.

So if you see 6 post in one day..just know that I am blogging my way through a craving. lol.

And Most importantly..

Rededicate my life to the Lord. Fully emerge myself in his glory.

So as you can see my resolutions are in HD!!!

They are biggies but not impossible.

" I can do all things through Christ whom strengthens me."

Christmas Eve

the girls of my family ( my sister Ashley, my daughters, and myself)

had a super girlie Christmas Eve.

We did some last minute power shopping, had some scrumptious Chinese,

and went to see Christmas lights.

These were no ordinary Christmas lights, or homes for that matter.

This is a mere portion of this house.. trust me on this.

The entire neighborhood was lit up like a winter wonderland.

Sorry about the pic- I was in a moving car and it was FREEZING!!!!

Ooohhs and ahhhhs were flowing from our car.

Christmas..circa 1970 something..

Can you guess who is who?

Hear is a hint.. that's our dad on the couch.

I have very vivid memories of my childhood. I actually remeber this picture and taking it.

Sunday I was at my mamma's house for dinner.

(A tradition we still keep alive )

And as I was looking around I noticed quite a few items that have grown up with me.

I was amazed when I went to Athen's and saw these everywhere!!

My mom has had the mini Santa mugs for as long as I can remember.

And this little darling.

I love the little lamb.

One of my favs.. I call him Santa with dreads.

(forgive the flash, my mom's house is dark.)

He is coned shaped - I do believe a throwback to the 60's.

My mom's china cabinet.

The salt and pepper shakers are too cute. Another item I grew up with.

These dishes have been in our family for many generations.

When the owner passes away they are then given to the youngest girl in the family.

After my mother, that would be my daughter Taylor. I think that they may go back to the 1900's.

We have NEVER eaten on them ..nor taken them out.

My mom would probably have a heart attack on site!!!

I would not even dream of trying.

My parents are older now- in their 80's. I have been blessed to spend many years with them.

And if the Lord allows them to see this Christmas..then that is another precious memory that I will cherish always.

No opening the windows for boys to sneak in and NO sneaking out to meet guys...bring 'em in the front door...just let me get the curlers outta my hair first and some lipstick on!
No gossiping...I don't care if you can see through Gussie's gown...pretend you don't!
Finally...no toilet papering the neighbor's house.
I can live with all of those....

My friend Meli Faif Life

(who I swear is my long lost triplet)

magically knew that this would be my fav Christmas movie.

Oh it is!!!! I watch the marathon every year. I mean over and over and over.

I could watch it a hundred times and never get bored.

I do believe this is my favorite scene.

When Ralphie gets the pink bunny pj's from his grandmother.

Okay, I had older aunts and uncles.

One year Angelique and I received two pencils taped together from one of our aunts.

And another aunt gave us a HUGE gift!! It was wrapped so pretty. I could not wait to tear into it.

Only to find....panties and socks!! Mannnnnn....

But I love the way Ralphie obsesses over the gun that he must have for Christmas.

Haven't we all been there as a kid?

I know I did. You dream of it, pray for it, tell everyone that you are going to have it come Christmas morning.

Was there ever one toy that got away?

Ralphie was lucky.

I still dream of this...

The Peanuts Snow Cone Machine!!

I begged, pleaded, and prayed for this.

It never came. I should have gotten an " E" for effort.

I asked year after year..no deal.

I came home Monday to discover a carseat in my living room.

I hear a baby crying.

"Huh?"

Morgan, my oldest,comes around the corner holding something in a blanket and it is crying it's head off.

"Meet your grandson T.J."

I am at a loss for words...

Did I miss the baby shower? Or better yet, " When did this happen?!!"

This bundle of joy is tiny ..and crying still.

She is rocking it and patting it on it's back.

I remove the blanket..

Oh my....

"It's my project for school."

Sigh.... BIG SIGH!!!

This is T.J.

He is an atomically correct baby that she has to keep for her Family Development Class.

He came with car seat and all.

You have to hold his head just like a newborn and he has a variety of keys

from diaper change to affection and even a panic key to help soothe his cries.

(He obviously has colic..lol)

Morgan has to care for him like he was her very own.

This is painful for me to watch..one day she might have children - I'm not ready for that thought yet.

Wait a minute ..Why dosen't it spit up on your last clean shirt?

Or run a fever at 2 a.m. and you have no idea why.

That would be ideal in my eyes.

But on a high note she has to take her bundle of joy EVERYWHERE!!!

We head out to the mall..

T.J. in tow .

(It's raining and Mr. H has to pull the car around so he won't get wet.. too funny!!! )

Morgan is complaining that the baby car seat is too heavy.

WOW.. imagine if it was a real baby!!

I give my girls some money to walk the mall as I get my hair done.

I look back and Morgan and T.J. are sitting there.

What?? Not walk the mall with money??

Nope. She's not cool with her baby on her arm.

We head over to dinner. She has to get a place for T.J. too.

People are looking at me like I am the bad parent...

then they see T.J.

One lady screamed.

"Do you have a problem with my grandson?"

She realizes that it is a doll.

( I know he looks like E.T.)

I like this idea.. caring for a baby to show you how you are NOT ready for one!!

With teenage pregnancy becoming the norm , this is AWESOME.

We even have to be quiet when he is asleep or he will cry.

I don't know how long T.J. will be with us but I personally do not miss the cries of a baby all night.

(Bad memories.. let me tell you.)

He is a learning experience that all young men and women should participate in.

Ok I gotta go.. T.J. will be home soon and I am trying to enjoy the quiet before the storm.

Yep that's us..

the Birthday Girls!!!

We started celebrating at the stroke of midnight!!!

Yes we stay up like kids at Christmas and call each other and sing ," Happy Birthday to us..." and have a glass of champagne.

"Why?", you ask. Well, it is like this. The Lord has blessed us to see another year and that alone is a reason to celebrate.

So what that it was raining and dreary outside

we were going to do our favorite thing anyway..

SHOPPING!!!

We headed out, even though Angelique was not feeling well, and hit our fav spots.

This was just one of many.

(Anthropology was on our list -they would not let me take pics ..bummer)

Then we made our way to favorite restaurant P.F. Changs

An Asian Pear Mojito was a must.

followed by some amazing tofu lettuce wraps.

(Before you turn your nose up at the tofu.. it is the BOMB!!)

Some spice chicken and brown rice ..yummmm!!

And some Dan Dan Noodles

(the pic was too blurry ..sorry Angelique).

I like mine spicy..

We had the best waiter ever. He brought Angelique's delightful dish

Banana Spring Rolls with homemade coconut ice cream

(which they make at their restaurant)

I can't eat the bananas but I tried the ice cream..

Let me tell you.. my eyes were rolling in the back of my head!!!

OHHHHHHH it was like heaven.

So me and my crew had a great time.

I had 4 shots to be exact!!! And Yes, I finished my drink.
I had a blast for my birthday!!!

She is in the hospital.

She was admitted today. Her husband Terry rushed her to the E.R. last night.

As of yet they are not sure what exactly is wrong.

Angelique was having some complications yesterday and it got the best of her for a moment.

They are going to do some test

( more like prod her like cattle)

and I am praying that they will find out what is going on.

This is stressing me. sigh...

I know not to worry because the Lord has control over this situation,

but I am concerned.

I know that all of our bloggy friends will lift her up in prayer.

She knows that she has your support and love to count on.

She called me and told me to make sure to send you her love ..

so here it is....MMWWWAAAHHH!!!

Yes ..today is the day!!!

I am very blessed that the Lord has allowed me to see another year.

I am equally as blessed to have shared this life with another...

my dearest sister Angelique.

We were born on December 14th.

She at 2:04 a.m. and me ..

( being the spunky bundle of joy that I am )

was a complete surprise to our parents!!

I was born at 2:10 a.m.

We have a relationship that can mimic some of the greatest in history.

Thelma and Louise are amateurs compared to us.

I can never remember a time in our lives when we did not talk to each other.

Before others around us could understand us..

we understood each other.

When I moved out on my own - I did not sleep at night for 6 months. I was so use to Angelique being with me. We were never apart. We did everything together.

All of my first, where her first too.

Angelique and I have had some amazing adventures as kids..

She was always the leader. The fearless one.

I was the happy sidekick. It is still that way today in some aspects.

Oh, we have had our arguments like sisters do. But they could never last.

How do you stay mad at your best friend?

We are very much so twins...

I will think of her and then the phone will ring and we still finish each other's sentences. If there is something one can't figure out ..the other can and quickly. Twin power ACTIVATE!!

So my sister calls me and informs me that THE hair dresser calls her to

see if she will keep her usual appointment.

REALLY? What part of the game is this??

I am thinking this over....

OK. Give me her number I will cancel your appointment for you.

I call....

(I know the sound of Ghetto when it answers the phone. )

So I politely inform her of who I was and why I was calling.

I also informed her that my sister would not be returning to her shop for ANY of her services.

"Why?"

(Ohhh pleasseeeee)

You know why. I further told "Baps" that the comment she made to my sister was COMPLETELY

UNPROFESSIONAL and just down right RUDE!!!

" You hurt my sister's feelings and I do not like that."

"Who are you to say anything like that to her or anyone else?"

She tried to give me a pittiful apology. Bamquesiha (that's not her name- just appropriate)

goes on to try to explain that she did not mean it like that.

Once again, "Really? Then how did you mean it?'

I went Christmas shopping today.

Whew I was tired when I came home and a tad sleepy.

Hello bloggy divas!!!

You ladies always see me as cheerful, upbeat, and full of cheer!!

NOT TODAY!!

My sister LOVES to go to the hairdresser..once a week

That's her thing. I am a hair person but she really is.

Ok, sooo she goes this past weekend to get her hair done.

She has found someone (finally) where she lives that can do her hair.

(Mind you we have ethnic hair so this is awesome)

This is her 3rd visit.

They start chatting- like we girls do. And the subject of her illness comes up.

BRACE YOURSELF..

The hairdresser tell my sister that the reason that she is ill is because she is not a faithful Christian!!!!

What the Deuce???

She calls me in tears...

This is my face. My hubby sits straight up. He knows whats next..

Oh No She Didn't!!!

Then my poor sister goes on to tell me the details of how this hairdresser ripped her a new one.

Angelique lives 2 hours away from me.Thank God for that woman.

I am contemplating putting on my tennis shoes real tight and driving to meet this chick.

No one makes my sister cry. If you make her cry- I will make you cry.

Generally, I am a down to earth person who tries to "shun the very appearance of evil."

My true love gave to me...

I have always dreaded singing the 12 days of Christmas as a child. It was too long and you could not just sing it strait through. Over and Over and Ovveeeerrr until you finally sang all of them. Whew.

Then when I was older, Angelique and I , referred to ourselves as the two turtle doves.

(We are born in December ..and if you count back from Christmas....oh well you get it.)

Then, not to long ago I found the true meaning of the song.

Duhhhhh... I consider my self intelligent- why did I not see this sooner?

Of course,"my true love gave to me" would be our Lord.

( I mean honestly, what man gives geese ? The five golden rings I can appreciate!! Diamonds would be even better. Lords a leaping =Chippendales?)

So in the spirit of the true meaning of this season I thought I would share with you the true meaning of the 12 days of Christmas......

a.. The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus Christ.
b.. Two turtle doves are the Old and New Testaments.
c.. Three French hens stand for faith, hope and love.
d.. The four calling birds are the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
e.. The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament.
f.. The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation.
g.. Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit: Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy.
h.. The eight maids a milking are the eight beatitudes.
i.. Nine ladies dancing are the nine fruits of the Holy Ghost: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self-control.
j.. The ten lords a-leaping are the Ten Commandments.
k.. Eleven pipers piping stand for the eleven faithful disciples.
l.. Twelve drummers drumming symbolize the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.

Wow. I never knew. I appreciate this song so much more now. ( I still believe it is too long.) But when I hear it or have to sing it *sigh* I won't dread it anymore (or as much).

Monday would have been my great-grandmother's birthday.

We called her "Mamma Helen".

I truly miss her. There is not a day goes by that I do not think of her.

December 7th....

is also the day the we remember Pearl Harbor.

I never said goodbye to her. Simply a, " I will see you later."

flurries scurries ....

I woke up from a long nap as my oldest was walking through the door.

And she was covered in.. snow!! Not a few flurries mind you but SNOW!!!

WOOOOHOOOO!!

I threw on my hat, grabbed my camera, and the teenager and ran outside.

(My hubby is standing at the door shaking his head.)

Now to some of you snow is now big deal.

But to me... it's BIG!!!

The first time I ever saw snow I was in 6th grade. I prayed allllllll night for it to snow.

God answered my prayer. When I woke up the ground was white. Angelique and I raced through breakfast and BEGGED to go outside.

So today, I was taken back in time ...6th grade.

Morgan kept screaming, "Gross!"

I'm thinking , "Cool."

Yes I am trying to eat snow. This hardly ever happens here.

I do not know if you can see it but that's not rain. That's snow baby!

I will see if God will honor my prayer again. I need a kiddie moment.

We all do from time to time.

So Lord, pleaaaase let it snow again tomorrow...

I want to go play.

I watch the news like a little old lady..

or a faithful mom. I wake every morning at 5a.m. and turn on the news.

Sure, I see all the crimes and houses that caught on fire from the night before.

(I have to watch the news in the morning. If I watch it at night.. I have bad dreams. )

(Stop laughing at me.. Stop it!!)

So as I was saying....my main purpose for waking up so early is the weather.

I make sure my girls have their umbrellas if there is a chance of rain. "Put on your jackets", if it will be chilly when they get off the bus. So this morning a forecast of snow.

"Snow?" in lil ole Conroe, Tx. This hardly ever happens.

So I make sure my girls are wrapped up like Eskimos.

(Even though the teenager thinks she is too cute to wear a hat. Sheesh.)

I head out to Wal-mart so we can bunker down this weekend.

I get out of my car and what do I see...

Snow flurries!!!

I am hoping that by morning I will at least be able to make a snow ball.

I can only dream of making a snow angel.

(One day... One day. A girl can dream can't she?)

Maybe I can make a mini snowman.

And a white Christmas... Well, let's just say that hope springs eternal.

I am glad that the snow is here. My family and I will plug up the tree, sit in front of the fire, and watch a few movies together. So, if I can't make a snowman, of have a snowball fight, at least I can enjoy the moments spent with my family.

It's beginning to look alot like Christmas...

At my house.

I finally had a little motivation to put up a few decorations for Christmas.

I enlisted the help of the handsome Mr. H get the tree out of storage and to assemble it.

(Yes, I love artificial trees. Who wants to vacuum pine needles until Easter? Only to be replaced by Easter grass.)

The handsome Mr. H agreed and assembled it in no time flat.

(He made me swear not to take any pics of him doing this loving chore. Such a guy)

So here she is ...

(Mind you I did not go all out this year. I kept it reaaaalll simple.)

I found these lovelies in Athens. I had to have them - they scream vintage tree!!

I also found theeesssee!!

I should have purchased more..*sniff sniff*

What is more important than family?

These darlings were 25 cents each. I glued them to a ribbon and

viola!!! Instant garland.

and of course my fav doll is present.

I then moved on to my coffee table. I added some ribbon and hydrangeas to a silver piece that I have and

made 2 candles with the same ribbon. Easy and really pretty. The pic does not do it justice at all.

What is Christmas without ornaments?

I even decorated the top of the entertainment center... lol.

I have a thing for angels....

These are just a few of my favorites.

I placed my angel collection on my buffet for all to see.

This year the Christmas spirit has just not hit me yet.

I love this holiday for what is represents- the birth of my savior.

Running to the mall, checking your list and all of the pressure to buy the "perfect gift" just does not move me this year.

(OH, stop looking at me like that!!)

I had a year to remember. 2009 taught me soo very much. When you look mortality in the face- your outlook changes. I realize that I already have my perfect gift..The gift of salvation.

I am sure that the closer Christmas gets here I will become more enthused.

Right now I just want to reflect ...

(and soak my aching shoulder..lol)

My tree may not be much.. but what can compare to the ultimate topper that shone in the stars over two thousand years ago?

Have you ever had a worry...

or had a concern that you cannot get off of your mind?

You know what I mean.

the one thing that makes the world sound like the teacher from Charlie Brown...

"Womp whomp whomp.."

And you are just not listening....

That's me today.

My other half is headed to the hospital for a series of test.

Angelique has been dealt a pretty rough hand these past few weeks.

But we both know what prayer can and will do..

"And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up;

and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him." James 5:15

(Amen.)

I know of a doctor who has never lost a case .

Who will hold you up when you just cannot go any further.

You can just touch the hem of his garment..

and be made whole.

My faith tells me not to worry,

but I am still concerned.

Angelique has been blessed with a wonderful husband who

stands by her side and cares for her dearly.

I know that she is in good hands.

But I place her (and this situation) in the loving hands of the Lord.

He watches over the sparrows- why not her.

I take solice in knowing that he has given his angels to watch over her..

and that she can find a peace that passes all understanding in the safety of his arms.

But if you call my name today and I just don't hear you...

please do not take it personal...

I just have something on my mind.

I'm decorating around here.. putting up my reindeer..

and what to my wondering eyes do appear ?

Everyone rushed to the pc with glee...

I cried Icried..

I'm dreaming of a vintage Christmas ...

Do you hear what I hear?

The sounds of Christmas.

( Yes, that is Ave Maria you hear in the background)

This week I will decorate my home in the spirit of Christmas.

Trees will go up, garland will be hung, and Christmas music will fill our home.

I am left to reminisce of Christmas past...

(here is where a really cute photo of me and Angelique were going to go but my scanner has a mind of its own today)

I grew up surrounded by all things vintage.. Literally. They hold a special place in my heart.

I have a deep rooted passion for vintage angels...

and Santas...

This one reminds me of the Santa my aunt had in her front yard every year.

(Even after his red was wearing off she placed him out there faithfully... When he couldn't stand anymore she tied him to a planter. He looked like he was being held hostage. lol)

I loved decorating the tree

and placing all of the beautiful ornaments on it.

We even strung popcorn into garland.

(I do not think that my aunt ever questioned why the garland was thinner each morning.. we ate it.

Hey, we were like 6!)

Some people dream of sugar plums .....I dream of an old fashioned vintage Christmas .
